2024-2025
  • Human Factors/UX Researcher (Contract) at Medical Device Startup for FDA-Cleared Class II Medical Device: Tidepool Loop Interoperable Automated Insulin Dosing App
  • Designed study methodologies for human factors simulated use studies with CGM and insulin pump partners, rapid iteration testing and evaluation (RITE) studies, unmoderated card sort studies, and unmoderated multi-day content testing studies.
  • Drafted protocols, screener surveys, and moderators guides, and unmoderated testing standards.
  • Moderated formative human factors studies with adults and parent-child dyads, and exploratory interviews with primary care physicians, presenting business opportunities for untapped market.
  • Analyzed data from human factors studies; wrote residual risk and other regulatory reports including task scoring, root cause analysis, risk mitigation, and justification for design changes.
  • Evaluated before-and-after knowledge in content testing study by comparing survey responses and tagging transcripts, with recommendations leading to improved comprehension of tutorial.
  • Quantitatively analyzed card sort data in R using multi-dimensional scaling. Identified the root cause of several common use errors; design updates will increase feature discoverability.
  • Presented results and design recommendations to designers, internal stakeholders, and medical device partners. Research findings submitted to the FDA for 510(k) submission.
  • Researched, compiled findings on, and shared company-wide best practices for conducting UX research on machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) products.
